Time to catch up the reports again, after another great couple of trips. We had one of my best trips so far on the offshore boat.

It was a ten hour trip and we got to head out where the big ones live, before the sun was even up.

We got the group a limit of red grouper with several of them over 30” and none under 24”.

We are still having to get out to deeper water to catch legal size fish over 20”, but when we get out there, they are chewing.

The gag grouper are still in close and we have had to leave a few spots to get away from them, since they are out of season.

In close we have had some great trips focusing on Lane and Mangrove snapper, as well as still getting a good number of porgies. We usually hook a Goliath Grouper or 2 on every trip, but haven’t had any luck getting any of those behemoths up recently. The fishing inshore has still been excellent as well with several trips over the last week or so. Catches have included some nice black drum, and at least a few redfish and snook on every trip. The stingrays are also biting like crazy in Estero Bay helping to keep things interesting. With the tourist season winding down and less boats on the water, the dolphins have also been more eager to play in the wake of the boat again. I’ve got another busy week ahead on both boats, but hope to get out to tarpon fish myself as word is there are a bunch of them just south of us and heading our way, finally.
